This term we have been learning about People who help us and our favourite stories. We have had lots of exciting visitors such as the fire service and a vet who explained their jobs and what they do. We have been role playing these jobs and identifying how they help us.

The children are now onto their topic of Favourite Stories. As a class we share our favourite stories with each other and we adapt our learning to these stories, so far we have been enjoying learning all about Harry and the bucketful of Dinosaurs and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have been cooking and creating models to support our learning in the early year’s environment. Our environment changes weekly according to the children’s favourite stories and we have been focusing on our reasoning by explaining why these are our favourite books.

We have also been learning about celebrations, who and why we celebrate these. The children had a fantastic time cooking for Shrove Tuesday and are enjoying learning about Easter in the build up to the Easter holidays. We have made Chinese New Year lanterns and have spoken about Mother’s day, why this is special and the special people in our lives.

The children in Nursery have been working extremely hard on their mark making and number skills this term and are now identifying numbers bigger than ten and writing our name and some CVC words independently.

Nursery have also been focusing on Phonics this term and have been learning most of their Set 2 sounds. The children then use their phonics knowledge in their writing during their exploring time and have produced some wonderful writing using their phonics knowledge. The phonics sounds we have learnt so far are s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck & e.

Don't forget to fill in a magic moment form and tell us all the wonderful learning your child has been doing at home so that we can celebrate all their achievements.
