Cowley Hill Primary School

All About Me

We are looking forward to welcoming the Nursery children to Cowley Hill and beginning their learning journey with them. Our topic this half term is All About Me. This gives us the opportunity to learn more about the children and their interests. This topic will help us as we move forward with our learning throughout the year, using the children’s interests as our future topics and adapting our learning. We have made our own All About Me books with our families and will enjoy sharing them daily with our peers.

In maths, we will be focusing on counting using one to one correspondence, using shapes appropriately and singing number songs.

As a part of our topic, we will be creating our own self-portraits. We will speak about how we are all different and selected colours for a purpose, looking closely at our own features. This will make a wonderful display in our new learning environment.

The children are also looking at environmental sounds in Phonics and will enjoy learning about the sounds around us and recreating these in our exploring time.

If you would like to know what we are learning each week in Nursery and how you could support your child at home please see the notice board in Nursery cloakroom. This will have activities and ideas weekly according to our learning.

In our first term, our aim is to make the children confident learners who are enjoying their time at school. It is also important to help them build friendships this term and understanding the importance of sharing, being kind to others and communicating with our teachers and peers.

Thank you to all of the parents and carers for all of their support through stay and play sessions, a huge well done to the children for their eagerness to begin their learning journey. We are looking forward to the next term ahead and are sure that this will bring some exciting learning and friendships in Nursery.

Thank you
